During the month of July 2020 with ACSESO and 4 other partners we developed this pioneering project in which we brought all the elements of a summer camp to the virtual environment. In this way, around 25 participants from 5 European countries met in the network to learn, socialize, play and work together to develop a common project.
We combine asynchronous activities using the Moodle platform, Zoom social meetings and Erasmus + Virtual Exchange sessions to generate our Virtual Summer Camp and offer participants from Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Turkey and Greece the opportunity to meet in a safe space and show that, Covid19 may have isolated us, but it does not prevent us from connecting.
Through the BBC3 series “Things Not to Say”, our participants learned and debated on such important issues as: mental health, sexuality and gender, disability in today’s society, race and ethnicity . On these topics, they held 4 Erasmus + Virtual Exchange sessions accompanied by professional facilitators.
For 4 hours a week, we would all meet together to chat, get to know each other, play games and break down barriers between our countries through the classic intercultural nights so often used in Erasmus + youth exchanges.
In addition to all this, our participants, divided into international groups, carried out their own project, selecting a topic of interest to them and a format to test their skills. You can see the result of their efforts below:
